We will traverse from high-altitude mountain passes down to the lush jungles. We will be passing through Santa Maria and Santa Teresa, culminating with the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu Cusco. Join us for a trek that weaves adrenaline, culture, and history into an unforgettable tapestry of experiences.
We start our odyssey in Cusco, where we will board our transport to the Abra Malaga Pass. Which is at an elevation of around 4,316 meters (14,160 feet). Here, the rush of mountain biking begins.
We will descend through cloud forests into the subtropical area of Humanmarka. This cycling path has a distance of approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles) to Santa Maria.
This first day challenges us with its variety of terrains. This is where we will navigate downhill stretches and feel the thrill of the journey.
Trekking begins in earnest as we wind through the trails from Santa Maria to Santa Teresa. En route, the verdant paths near Qellomayo offer a beautiful setting for our hike. After covering roughly 22 kilometers (13.7 miles), we will soak in the Aguas Termales.
These hot springs are near Santa Teresa, where relaxation seeps into our muscles. It gets us ready for the next day’s escapades.
Our third day takes us on a journey to Hidroelectrica. A trek along the train tracks follows, leading to Aguas Calientes, nestled at the base of Machu Picchu. As we trek 18 kilometers (about 11 miles), we’ll capture sights of the majestic Machu Picchu Mountain. We will enjoy the energy of the jungle encompassing us.
We rise early to reach Machu Picchu in time for its spectacle. After a short bus ride, we will explore the enigmatic site with a tour. It reveals the mysteries and architectural genius of the ancient Incas.
We will spend several hours there, after which we will return to Aguas Calientes. Then we will go back to Cusco, completing our transformative journey.
