Cusco Hotel Transfer
We will begin this full-day tour with an early morning pick-up from our hotel in Cusco. The adventure will start before dawn. A professional driver will take us to Ollantaytambo train station, located 72 kilometers away. The drive will take about 1 hour and 45 minutes through scenic Andean valleys.
We will pass ancient terraces, rivers, and peaceful villages surrounded by mountains. Along the way, we may see early sunlight hitting the Sacred Valley. Upon arrival, we will board one of the comfortable trains to Machu Picchu. The ride to Aguas Calientes will be relaxing and full of stunning views.
We will travel 43 kilometers by train, passing cloud forests and narrow riverbanks. The ride lasts around 1 hour and 40 minutes. We will enjoy large windows that frame waterfalls, jungle cliffs, and snow-capped peaks. This part of the journey will feel magical and calming.
Once in Aguas Calientes, we will walk to the bus station and continue the trip up to the archaeological site. The short bus ride will cover 9 kilometers in 30 minutes. The road will zigzag up the lush mountain slope to the entrance gate. At the top, we will show our entrance tickets and begin the most awaited moment of the tour.
Our guided tour of the citadel of Machu Picchu will last around 2 to 3 hours. We will visit the main parts of Machu Picchu, including the Temple of the Sun and the Intihuatana stone. We will walk across agricultural terraces, water fountains, and sacred plazas. Tour guides will explain the meaning behind each part of the archaeological site.
We will pause to admire the view of Machu Picchu from the Guardian House lookout. On clear days, we may see clouds rise from the valley below. We will learn how the Incas built this inca citadel without iron tools or wheels. Each stone tells a story of culture, power, and spirituality.
After exploring Machu Picchu, we will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes. There, we may enjoy local food, coffee, or shopping. We might relax by the river or reflect on this unforgettable experience. Later, we will board the return train to Ollantaytambo.
Once we arrive at the train station, our vehicle will take us back to Cusco. The final drive will be peaceful after such a full day. We will return to our hotel in Cusco by evening, filled with joy and wonder. This trip to Machu Picchu will remain in our hearts for a long time.
