This two-day journey will offer a perfect mix of history, culture, and breathtaking nature. We will travel through valleys at 2,800 meters and reach Machu Picchu at 2,430 meters. On the first day, we will visit Pisac, Ollantaytambo, and Urubamba while following the sacred Vilcanota River. We will learn about ancient agricultural terraces, Inca architecture, and bustling artisan markets. At Ollantaytambo, we will board a scenic train toward Aguas Calientes, also called Machu Picchu Town. We will spend the night there and prepare for the iconic visit the next morning.

Itinerary

Day 1:Cusco – Pisac – Urubamba – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

We will begin the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu Tour 2D/1N early in the morning from Cusco (3,400 meters). Our guide will pick us up at our hotel, and we will drive northeast.

We will reach the viewpoint of Taray and admire the broad beauty of the Sacred Valley. The Vilcanota River will flow alongside us as we descend. The landscapes will stretch with patchwork fields and high Andean peaks.

In Pisac (2,972 meters), we will explore the impressive Inca terraces carved into the hillsides. We will visit the Pisac archaeological site and see temples, towers, and ceremonial centers. The site offers stunning views of the valley below. We will also visit the colorful market to interact with local artisans.

Afterwards, we will drive to Urubamba (2,871 meters), where we will stop for lunch. Here, we may taste regional flavors prepared with fresh local ingredients. The town sits surrounded by eucalyptus forests and farmland.

In the afternoon, we will head to Ollantaytambo (2,792 meters), one of the last living Inca towns. We will climb the stone steps to explore the Temple of the Sun and water channels. The ancient fortress will show us the strategic brilliance of Inca planning.

From the Ollantaytambo station, we will take the train to Aguas Calientes (2,040 meters). The ride will offer dramatic views of the changing landscapes and lush valleys. We will spend the night in a hotel in Aguas Calientes and prepare for Machu Picchu.

Day 2:Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

We will wake up early to catch one of the first buses to Machu Picchu. The bus will wind up the mountain for about 25 minutes. We will reach the main entrance of the site around 6:00 AM.

We will begin our guided tour through the sacred city of the Incas (2,430 meters). The morning light will bathe the stone walls and hidden temples. We will walk across ceremonial plazas, fountains, and observatories.

Our guide will explain the meaning of each sector and Inca engineering feats. We will discover the Temple of the Sun, the Main Plaza, and the Intihuatana.

Those who wish may hike to the Sun Gate or the Inca Bridge for panoramic views. These short hikes offer breathtaking landscapes and time for reflection. We will take photos, enjoy the energy, and listen to the wind and silence.

After the tour, we will return to Aguas Calientes by bus. Then we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo and travel by van to the city of  Cusco. We will arrive in the evening and end this unforgettable days tour.
